It´s one of these days, to which you look forward all summer long: Sunshine and lots of fresh powder - that is the combination you need, and that's when the mountain is calling for you. So at days like these, I gather my friends around me and we start into an unforgetable day freeriding in Warth-Schröcken.
The lift gets us up quickly, right to the top station and into the white gold we are looking so much forward. Because of approximately 11 meters of snowfall each year the chances are pretty high to geht powder snow throughout the whole season. Furthermore, most of the top stations lead right into great freeride spots, so most of the time not much hiking is needed to reach the hot spots of freeride terrain.
So after a short equipement check (avalanche transceiver check) we are ready for the first run. We find ourselves in an untouched field right away, with lots of powder and a gorcious winter panorama surrounding us.
At our second run we have a pretty ambitious aim to reach - the peak ot the Wartherhorn, which we reach after a short hike. The view we get up there is awesome - you look over to the the "Lechtaler Alpen"and further away you see the austrian border and our german neighbor. After a short rest me and my friends are ready for the next run - and ananother awesome powder run follows...
Ride on,
Alois Bickel
