Also those who prefer skating instead of classic cross-country skiing will find the perfect terrain for it in Warth-Schröcken – for beginners as well as for more experienced skaters!
The skating technique is a relatively new technique in cross-country skiing and became popular in the 1980s. In contrary to classic cross-country skiing, the movement is similar to the one of an ice skater and both poles are used at the same time (double poling). This special technique results in greater speeds than traditional cross-country skiing. Ski runs for skating don’t have special tracks, which means that the stabilizing effect lacks and therefore it is much more difficult to keep the balance. This turns skating into a healthy and beneficial sport as it is a perfect endurance, balance and muscle training.
