The origins of Nordic walking go back until the 1930s when it was mainly used as summer endurance training by cross-country skiers. In the 1990s it also became popular for the general public. In Warth-Schröcken numerous winter hiking trails guarantee perfect conditions for Nordic walking.
All you need for Nordic walking are functional clothing and poles. These poles and the special Nordic walking technique make sure that not only the lower extremities, but also the upper body is exercised. The correct technique is essential as Nordic walking differs from normal walking with poles and the expected training effects can only be achieved if the movement is performed adequately. With Nordic walking you can exercise up to 85% of your muscles and therefore it is highly recommendable for all age groups.
These hiking trails are especially recommendable for Nordic walking in winter:
From the Kalbelesee lake to the Körbersee lake
The tour around the Kalbelesee lake
Up to the cross at the Simmel
Round tour through the forest in Warth
Please understand that due to time and technical shortages (mainly in case of heavy snowfalls) delays might occur in hiking trail grooming. Thank you!
