The "Wälder Metzge" in Warth is the highest situated alpine dairy and butchery in Vorarlberg and stands for highest quality. All products derive from nature and that is why nature protection plays such a fundamental role.
The alpine position of Warth-Schröcken turns it into an ideal place to produce cheese, as the high variety of herbals and grasses guarantees high-class fodder for the cattle. Moreover, no feed silo is used, which also guarantees top quality. The product line includes dairy products like yoghurt and butter and all popular Austrian types of cheese such as "Bergkäse" with different degrees of maturity (4, 6 or 12 months), "Rahmkäse", "Reibkäse" and "Räßkäse".
Also the meat has an outstanding quality due to the pure whey feeding. Pigs are fed with the sweet whey, which arises from cheese production, and corn. Here, intensive livestock farming is a foreign word – all animals can move about freely and lead a stress-free life.
Wälder Metzge offers Birglar meat (tender and easily digestible), bacon, raw sausages and specialities such as venison sausages and many more!
Twice a week we offer guided tours with a duration of about 15 minutes. Guided tours and tastings on request. Visitors will be inducted into the art of producing cheese (delivery of the milk, cheese production, visit of the maturation cellar).
