Hiking and learning about the Walser People in the Tannberg region

 
 
 

The footpath starts in Warth, passing the church and the Walserhus, a traditional Walser house, the  footpath takes you to Wolfegg and then along the old Salzstraße to the Jägeralpe Hotel, where you can take a rest. Then the footpath leads you to the Adler Hotel and then up to the chapel at the Simmel and finally to the cross on top of the Simmel. From there, you can enjoy a stunning view of the unique Hochtannberg pass scenery and the surrounding mountain peaks. Then you return to the Adler Hotel on the same way and from there you can take the bus back to Warth.

Walking time: approx. 2 hours

 

 

From the Steffisalp-Express top station the footpath takes you to Bürstegg, a former Walser settlement, where you can take a rest. After a short ascent you’ll reach the Auenfeld saddle and then at the crossing you turn left to get to the Gaisbühel alp and then to Oberlech and Lech. From Lech you can take the bus back to Warth.

Walking time: approx. 2.5 hours

 

 

From the Steffisalp-Express top station the footpath takes you to Bürstegg, where you can take a rest. After a short ascent you’ll reach the Auenfeld saddle and then a  crossing where you turn left and passing the Auenfeld you’ll get to the Batzen alp and the alp museum. Take the footpath further downwards to the glacial mill, then to the Felle alp and to Schröcken. From there you can take the bus back to Warth.

Walking time: approx. 4 hours

 

 

Take the Steffisalp-Express chairlift up to the top and then take the footpath to Bürstegg. After passing Bürstegg, take the footpath downwards to the Boden alp. Directly next to the Boden alp there is a bus stop where you can take the bus either to Warth or to Lech.

Walking time: approx. 2 hours

 

 

The footpath starts at the Hochtannberg pass and takes you along the marvelous Kalbelesee and Körbersee lakes. Once you have passed the Körbersee lake, continue you walk along the narrow trail to the agricultural road, which takes you to the Auenfeld alp and up to the Auenfeld saddle. From there you turn left to reach the Gaisbühel alp, then you pass the Kitzbach ravine and finally reach Tannegg and Oberlech.

Walking time: approx. 3 hours

 

Starting from Schröcken the footpath takes you up to the Felle alp and then to the glacial mill, witness of the glacial period. Then the path continues to the Batzen alp and the alp museum. At the crossing, turn left to reach the picturesque Körbersee lake with the Körbersee Hotel, which invites you to linger. You can either take the same way back down to Schröcken or you follow the footpath towards the Hochtannberg pass and then at the crossing left to Witele and Nesslegg.

Walking time: approx. 2.5 hours

 

The hiking tour starts in Schröcken/Heimboden and then leads to the Felle alp. Crossing the river, you’ll notice the glacial mill, witness of the glacial period. Then the footpath takes you upwards to the Batzen alp and the alp museum. Follow the footpath straight ahead to the Auenfeld saddle, then turn right at the crossing and continue your walk to the Gaisbühel alp and then to Oberlech and Lech. There you can take the bus back to Schröcken.

Walking time: approx. 3.5 hours

 

 

You start in Schröcken /Neßlegg and pass the Seebach river over the small bridge. The footpath takes you up to the Witele and then to the top, where you can enjoy a marvelous view of the mountain scenery, the Kalbelesee lake and the Simmel. Pass the Kalbelesee lake and continue your walk to the Adler Hotel and then further to the Jägeralpe Hotel, which invite you to linger and have a break. At the Jägeralpe Hotel the footpath leads along the old Salzstraße to the Holzboden alp and finally to Warth. There you can take the bus to return to Schröcken.

Walking time: approx. 3 hours

 

 

From Schröcken/Neßlegg the footpath leads you upwards to the Joch and then over to the Schlössle alp. Continue your walk through the forest and enjoy the wonderful view of Schröcken from one of the many viewpoints along the path. You’ll then reach the Sulz alp and the Alp alp and on your way downwards you’ll pass several parts of Schröcken until the tour finally ends in the centre of the village in Heimboden.

Walking time: approx. 1.5 hours

 

Starting from Lech the footpath takes you to Oberlech where you pass the Schlössle inn and then follow the asphalted road upwards to Tannegg. In Tannegg turn right and continue your walk towards Gaisbühel and Auenfeld until you reach a crossing. At the crossing turn right again into direction of Bürstegg and then to the Wanghus. Be careful: this footpath is quite steep! From the Wanghus the path leads downwards to a bus stop, where you can take the bus back to Lech.
